WORKSHOPS

The purpose of education is to prepare kids to face a real life after school. However, the traditional classroom environment could be too far from reality for kids to grasp what they should do or where they should place themselves in the real world. Have you ever met someone who started out thinking that they would love their chosen profession only to wind up hating it? In fairness, how are you supposed to know if you will be happy as an investment banker, or an artist, or a business person, if you haven’t actually done any of these things yet? Kids normally have no idea of what each career is really all about or what the day-to-day operations of each profession are. This makes it extremely difficult for them to know which direction is right for them or which field suits them best.  Our school aims to bridge that gap and take the classroom as close to reality as it could get through workshops which weave learning and life experiences together allowing students to dig deeper into each career to really experience what it’s like to do what a person in each profession does hands-on.

The effective steps for career exploration include four levels:

1. Talk with people in career fields of interest

2. Observe and "job shadow" professionals in the workplace to get a better sense of the day-to-day responsibilities and challenges.

3. Experience work first hand

4. Develop knowledge skills and abilities to succeed in a career field.

Our workshops put all of these steps in a 2-day learning experience where kids come participating in activities which take them to the clearer path of where they are heading while
